Record Monthly Energy Production Amid COVID-19
Throughout the year, the Buffalo Regional Digester processes organic waste to produce reliable, renewable energy for our community.
Amid the global coronavirus pandemic our team is working harder than ever to continue operations while following best practices for safety and social distancing. In fact, in April the digester achieved a record month, converting 2,449 tons of food waste into 370,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy. To put this in perspective, the energy we produced in April is enough energy to power more than 400 homes or over 250,000 60-watt light bulbs for a month.
We’re very proud of our team for continuing to make a difference during this unprecedented time.
